On the Pier

Grandma Marge Visits

Tom's Step Mother Marge Glauser came for a short visit at the end of July. It was great seeing her again, and showing her around Ventura County. Miles can't wait to visit her in South Carolina as she lives right across the street from a lake where he can go fishing and paddle boating, not to mention she lives in horse country so he can also go horse back riding.

Ft. MacArthur

While my sister Barbara was visiting, we all participated in our annual Ft. MacArthur Days down in San Pedro CA. We had home made waffles with real whipped cream in them, and Helen was in whipped cream heaven as is evident from the photos. Barbara joined in our ladies tea, and was able to answer some of the public's questions using her history degree knowledge. All in all I think she had a good time, and truly looked and acted like a colonial lady.

Take me out to the ball game part two

The Yankees started out really strong scoring plenty in the first 4 innings, but by the bottom of the 4th inning, the Angels found their groove and never looked back. Needless to say, the Angels beat the Yankees 14 to 8 and Barbara's vacation had officially come to an unhappy end. To make matters worse, not only did the Angels beat the Yankees on Friday, Saturday when we were there, but they swept them by winning on Sunday as well. Is Barb still speaking to me? Well, that remains to be seen as we head further into summer and the base ball season.
We did have a good time though. Helen was a little under the weather, but still had fun, in fact she slept through most of the game. Sara went home happy having seen her Angels win, and Barb is saying the Yankees will kick the Angels butts in September. Only time will tell who makes it to the World Series.

Take me out to the ball game part one

On Saturday July 11, 2009 we headed to Anaheim to watch Sara's Angels play Barbara's Yankees. This was to be the high light of her trip out here, especially since she had not seen her Yankees play live since she was about 10 years old. The day started out great, we made great time and arrived at the stadium one minute before we said we would be there anyway.
We went in and found out seats, which were great by the way. Hey, Sara even managed to some how get Barb in the same section as a lot of Yankee fans. Sara, Miles and little Helen felt mildly out of place, but.....

Bath time Fun in the Kitchen Sink

During these hot sticky days of summer, who wants to run a bunch of warm water in the bath tub every two minutes to clean up a sticky popscicle mess? Well, we came up with the kitchen sink bath for Miss Helen. She loves it and it so much easier to clean her up from sticky things such as pb&j sandwiches, watermelon, and of course the all time summer favorite popscicles.
