A fine view from my front door 9/22/09

Yesterday as I was going about my morning, I noticed that a portion of the sky out my front door kept changing color. I thought it was probably just dust from the river bottom because the Santa Ana winds were blowing, but when I opened my door to take a better look, surprise!!!.... a brush fire had started and I was able to get a fantastic view right from my front porch. Here are some of the pictures I took. There will be another post more.
Don't worry Tom is safe, but very exhausted. He is currently resting at his fire station waiting until 6 PM to see if he needs to go back out on the line and fight the fire some more. I think his engine company was the first on scene when the fire was reported.
So far 8,000+ acres have burned and there are many evacuations in place. However we are safe, and just sending up prayers that the fire gets under control soon.

For the love of baseball

So we are a baseball family. It seems however that my children are a bit confused as to who this family really roots for in baseball. We are Angels all the way, or at least I thought so until we went to the Ventura County Fair and Miles won a Yankees blow up bat. It's the favorite toy in the house. On the other hand, when we are watching the Angels play Helen must play with Miles' batting helmet from the Angels. These kids need to pick my team and stay away from their Aunt's team. GO ANGELS!!!!!

Helen the animal lover part 1

Here are some pics showing Helen and Miles loving on our dog Major. Helen just loves the dog, and he so gentle with her its unbelievable. I don't think I would want a baby pulling on my ears and grabbing my fur, but Major doesn't seem to care, he just lets her do her thing and enjoys.

We have a cat named Tigger and he is 14 years old. He is the most gentlest cat I have ever seen. He let's Helen grab his ears, and his tail and his fur without biting her or scratching her. He just lays there and takes it all the while purring. Here are some pics to show you just how much she loves him.

The first picture is of her inside her toybox. She loves to climb into boxes.
